Measuring My Problems Against My God

Lately, I've been carrying the weight of several situations in my life. If I'm honest, my natural tendency is to immediately start trying to figure out how to solve them. I look for answers, strategies, and action steps. I am always searching to find a way through every challenge.

This morning, God interrupted that way of thinking.

When I woke up, God gave me a vision of a measuring stick- like a yardstick. As I sat with that image, I sensed God saying me, "Measure your problems against the size of Me.  How big is that situation or problem in comparison to Me- the Creator of the universe?”

One by one, I began lifting every burden, every concern, every situation to that measuring stick. And as I did, something remarkable happened. The problems that had seemed so large suddenly became very small or even become nothing when compared to the greatness of God.

Then I realized something.

Most of us spend a lot of time talking about how our problems, but very little time is talking about how big our God is.

And maybe that's the wrong measurement.

What if, instead of asking, "How am I going to fix this?" we started asking, "How big is God compared to this problem?"

What if, when someone shared their struggle with us, our first thought wasn't, "How do I solve this? " but rather, "How big is God of this situation?"

That one question changes everything.

It shifts the focus from our limitations to God infinite power, from our resources to God’s provisions, from our understanding to God’s Divine wisdom.

The problem may still exist, and we still have a responsibility to step into in but it no longer gets to define the story. God does.

What problem, burden, fear, or situation have you been measuring against your own strength instead of God's greatness?

Take a moment and picture that measuring stick.

Hold up the thing that has been occupying your thoughts.

Hold up the relationship.

Hold up the financial pressure.

Hold up the uncertainty.

Hold up your children.

Hold up the wound that still hurts.

Hold up the situation you can't seem to solve.

Now measure it against the greatness of God.

Not against your ability.

Not against your resources.

Not against your understanding.

Against God.

What changes when you stop measuring God against your problem and start measuring your problem against God?

Father,

thank You for reminding me today that I have been measuring my problems with the wrong measuring stick.

So often I focus on what I can do, what I should do... I carry burdens that were never mine to carry and try to solve situations that are beyond my wisdom, strength, and understanding.

Today, I choose to bring every concern to You.

Help me to see You as You truly are- greater than every obstacle, stronger than every fear, wiser than every question, and more powerful than every circumstance I face.

When problems seem overwhelming, remind me to measure them against Your greatness.

When I am burdened by the struggles of those I love, remind me  You love them even more than I do.

When I am tempted to rely on my own understanding, teach me to trust Your wisdom and Your timing.

I place my family, my children, my relationships, my health, my finances, and every concern of my heart into Your hands.

Give me wisdom for what is mine to do and peace for what belongs to You.

May I remember each day no problem is greater than my God, no burden is too heavy for You, and no situation is beyond Your reach.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
